East Rand Thatch and Build is an established company and has been in business since 2000. The business premise is situated in Kempton Park from which all activities are co-ordinated.

East Rand Thatch and Build is managed by a small team of competent professionals. All our workers are highly experienced and skilled in their trade.

SERVICES

THATCH LAPAS

The following is a list of specifications that we uphold for our clients:

• All our inside work is done with Cape Thatch reed.
• Outside layer of thatch is done with top quality highveld grass and is packed at a minimum thickness of ± 175mm which ensures good compaction density and prevents water penetrating through grass.
• All our structures are build with SABS approved (CCA treated) poles. Poles ranging from 75mm to 125mm in thickness.
• All planting poles are embedded in concrete at a depth of 500mm.
• Planting poles and horizontal poles range between 125mm to 170mm in thickness.
• The coping of the thatch is finished off with a fiberglass mould (ridging)
• Staining and varnishing of poles can be arranged at an additional price.
• After completion of work, fire protection and lighting conductors can be arranged.
• Our workmanship adheres to the SANS 10407 thatching regulations.
• Workmanship on all our thatches carries a 3 year Warrantee.

BUILDING & DECKING

Only treated timber is used for our decking.

Decking can be done in the following timber:

• Saligna
• Teak
• CCa treated pine
• Merbau
• Merantie
• Balau
• Garapa
• Red iron
• Decking thickness ranges between 22mm and 32mm
• 228/38mm structural beams are used for main frame supported by 150/38mm beams
• Balustrades in various designs and materials can be constructed
• Workmanship on all our decking is guaranteed for 5 years.

ROCK PAVING

Rock art can be constructed in various forms:

• On any garden surface after compaction
• Over existing paving
• Walls and precast walls
• Braai's
• Around existing swimming pool and Jacuzzis
• Pathways
• Flowerbeds

Over Thatches

Thatching a new layer of Highveld grass over an existing thatch or house, Min 150mm in thickness.

Rethatches

Stripping the old layer of grass from your house/thatch and replacing the thatch with new grass. The thickness of the thatch to be the correct density / thickness to allow for water run off. Grass is thatched with a min thickness of 175mm. Cape reed interiors as well as sisilation insulated roofs can also be added.
